Step 3: Choose the Stream Length
Find the closest stream length in the chosen “Gravel Depth” column.
Stream Length: The horizontal measurement of the stream channel.
Note: Height of the waterfall is not a factor when calculating stream length.
Step 4: Choose the Vanishing Pool Size
Vanishing Water ™ HOW TO SIZE IT
Vanishing Pool: This represents the size (in square feet) of a pool
of water 3” deep at the bottom of the stream, which will vanish
into the Filter and /or Expansion Tanks when the pump is turned
off. This option gives the water feature a more natural finish.
Note: The option of a vanishing pool is listed on the Vanishing Streams and
Vanishing Pools Chart
Step 5: Pump Flow (GPM)
Pump Flow: The flow in gallons per minute (GPM) required to
provide approximately 3/4” of water flowing over the stream bed.
NOTE: It is suggested that a ball valve is installed somewhere along the pipe
between the pump to the beginning of the waterfall. This provides the option of
increasing or decreasing the flow of water as desired. If converting to gallons
per hour (GPH) multiply the number by 60.
Step 6: Vanishing Pack
This is the Vanishing Pack which meets the specifications for the installation.
NOTE: If the installation falls between two sizes of Vanishing Packs, choose the
larger to ensure that water storage requirements are fully met.
